At the Otley Farm, Ruth Thompson and Scott Otley grow commodity crops, vegetables, and fruit. Their farm and barn house are powered by clean energy. They use a 25 kilowatt photovoltaic system to supplement their LES renewable portfolio, and they use wind power to pump water for irrigation and to water their house plants. They live comfortably in their more than one-hundred-year-old Sears kit barn home, which has a ground source heat pump and radiant floor heat, as well as passive solar. Ruth and Scott often host local and visiting musical groups with potluck concerts. All donations at the door go to the performers or to the local food bank.
