Since 2007, Merlin and Rita Friesen have operated Sunny Slope Farm in Gage County where they grow vegetables and fruit, and raise grass-fed beef, poultry, and eggs. Formerly an off-grid farm that used only solar and wind power, Sunny Slope is now a net-metered system, so any extra energy they produce goes back onto the Norris Public Power District grid.
